Our History SINCE THE 1840's
Take a walk back to the days of old at the Farmers Branch Historical Park. The 22-acre park touts the proud history of the city and North Texas, sharing and preserving our heritage for future generations.
Welcoming over 50,000 visitors each year, the park is like an outdoor museum offering many opportunities for tours, educational programs and special events. On the beautifully maintained grounds, guests can explore 10 historic structures dating from the 1840’s to the 1940’s. From the Gilbert House, which is the oldest structure still standing on its original foundation in Dallas County, to the old school house which dates to the early 1900s, visitors can experience what life was really like in the early days in North Texas.

The Historical Park is a unique and beautiful setting, perfect for special events of all kinds, from corporate and private events to weddings and reunions. The park is also open for tours and hosts school and other visitor groups.
School & Visitor Programs
The Farmers Branch Historical Park has provided more than 20 years of quality educational programming. By living history, students become active participants in learning about the past. Tours focus on learning through interactive activities and discussion. All tours are aligned with the TEKS.
The Farmers Branch Historical Park currently offers a variety of on-site and off-site programs for public, private and home schools. On-site tours are available Tuesday and Thursday mornings or by special appointment. In–school programs are available Monday and Wednesday afternoons or by special appointment. The Park also offers educational trunks on loan to schools.
Reservations are required for all educational programs.

The Historical Park is pleased to offer a variety of sites available for private rental activities. The Park offers the 1890s Church, 1937 Dodson House, Gazebo and patio with serving kitchen, and grounds which include the meadows and/or Farmers Branch Rose Garden for the use and pleasure of those renting the facilities for events such as weddings, family reunions, meetings and more.
